Lamb & Hayward Masterworks - Triumph

Christchurch Symphony Orchestra

Mendelssohn’s Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage is an atmospheric musical work that captures the anxiety of a boat becalmed, the relief as the wind begins to rise and the euphoric moment when the canvas of the sails fill and the sailors are safely homeward bound.

Joining the CSO to perform Korngold’s lushly romantic Violin Concerto is Christchurch raised violinist, Benjamin Morrison. Based in Austria where he is a member of the renowned Vienna Philharmonic, Benjamin is in demand as both a soloist and chamber musician.

Considered one of the great musical innovators of all time, Beethoven’s music continues to inspire audiences today. His seventh symphony was considered by the composer to be one of his best works and was an immediate hit with audiences and critics alike, bristling with energy and concluding with a finale full of jubilation, exhilaration and the joy of life.
